Chapter 50 The Sages Discuss the Three Emperors
Chapter 50 The Sages Discuss the Three Emperors
The moment Fuxi's true spirit entered the cycle of reincarnation, the world was shaken by cause and effect.
The power of reincarnation permeates Yin and Yang, revealing the secrets of destiny. That beam of reincarnation, though silent and still, is like a boulder thrown into a lake, creating ripples that spread to every corner of the primordial world.
All beings whose cultivation has reached the level of a saint have sensed the changes in the heavens at that instant.
Kunlun Mountain, Yuxu Palace.
The Three Pure Ones gathered. Laozi sat upright on a futon, holding a whisk, his expression serene; Yuanshi Tianzun sat at the head of the table, with the Three Treasures Jade Ruyi across his knees; Tongtian Jiaozhu sat on the right, the Qingping Sword hanging beside him, its sword aura faintly visible.
The three exchanged a glance and nodded to each other, their understanding unspoken.
Laozi spoke first, his voice calm yet tinged with emotion: "I never imagined that Fellow Daoist Fuxi would ultimately be reincarnated. To be reborn as one of the Three Sovereigns of the Human Race, and to attain the Dao as the Heavenly Emperor, is truly a remarkable opportunity."
The Primordial Celestial Venerable interjected, "The achievements of the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors are extraordinary. After the Wu and Yao, the human race is destined to rise, becoming the protagonist of Heaven's Mandate and bearing the great fortune of Heaven and Earth. If our sect wishes to seize the fortune of Heaven and Earth, it is only natural that we must spread it among the human race."
He paused, his gaze sweeping over Laozi and Tongtian Jiaozhu, before continuing, "Brother's Human Sect inherently possesses the fortune of the human race, so there's no need to worry. But my junior brother Tongtian and I still need to make some plans."
Upon hearing this, the Tongtian Sect Leader nodded in agreement.
Upon hearing this, Laozi raised an eyebrow slightly, glancing sideways at Yuanshi Tianzun and then at Tongtian. He saw that both men had piercing eyes, clearly already having made their plans. He couldn't help but sigh.
Since the Three Pure Ones separated into their respective sects, their brotherly bond remains. However, when it comes to the struggle for destiny, they must carefully consider the matter. The fact that Yuanshi Tianzun and Tongtian took the initiative to consult with him shows how important this matter is to them.
"Then what do you think we should do?" Lao Tzu asked, his tone tinged with helplessness.
Hearing Laozi's reassurance, Yuanshi and Tongtian exchanged a glance, feeling somewhat relieved. Tongtian carefully considered his words, saying cautiously, "My elder brother only has Xuandu as his direct disciple, whose cultivation is profound and whose Daoist practice is considerable. How about we bestow the Emperor's merit upon Xuandu?"
"Xuan Du?" Upon hearing this, Laozi pondered for a moment.
Grand Master Xuandu is his only direct disciple, possessing excellent aptitude and unwavering faith, making him truly capable of this task. If Xuandu were to assist the Emperor in attaining enlightenment, he could accumulate merit and simultaneously secure good fortune for the Human Sect, achieving two goals at once.
After a moment, Lao Tzu nodded: "Agreed."
His single word set the tone. The subtext was: the Emperor's achievements belong to the Humanist Church; he would not participate in anything else.
Upon hearing this, Yuanshi and Tongtian looked more relaxed. Without the interference of Taishang Laojun, the remaining struggle between the Earthly Emperor and the Human Emperor would be between the two of them.
The three continued their discussion, and the atmosphere gradually became more lively.
The Primordial Celestial Venerable said, "Since the Heavenly Emperor has been given to my elder brother, then the positions of Earthly Emperor and Human Emperor will be shared between my junior brother Tongtian and me. What do you think, junior brother?"
The Master of the Heavens said, "Senior brother, please speak freely."
The Primordial Celestial Venerable stroked his beard and said, "The Earthly Emperor belongs to your Jie Sect, and the Human Emperor belongs to my Chan Sect. As for the Five Emperors, the first three belong to my Chan Sect, and the last two belong to your Jie Sect. Is this distribution fair?"
The Master of the Heavens pondered for a moment, then nodded: "Good. The Earthly Emperor will belong to me, the Human Emperor to my senior brother, and the Five Emperors will each receive their due, which is fair."
The three of them, in a harmonious manner, settled the matter of who would inherit the merits of the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors. Laozi received the Heavenly Sovereign, the Master of the Heavenly Realm received the Earthly Sovereign and the two emperors after him, and the Primordial Heavenly Venerable received the Human Sovereign and the three emperors before him. Each got what they wanted, and everyone was happy.
However, although the three of them had decided on the distribution plan, they did not forget about the goddess Nuwa.
Nuwa was the Holy Mother of Humanity, who created humans and mended the sky, and performed great deeds for humanity. It would be unreasonable and inhumane not to inform her about the events concerning the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors.
Moreover, although Nuwa did not concern herself with worldly affairs, she was still a supreme sage with unfathomable strength.
When the Three Pure Ones are combined, no one in the primordial world can rival them except for the Dao Ancestor. However, it would be unwise to add an enemy out of nowhere, especially one who is a petty woman.
"Let's go, let's go to the Nuwa Palace." Laozi stood up.
Yuanshi and Tongtian nodded, and the three figures disappeared into the Kunlun Mountains.
---
Meanwhile, in the west, Mount Sumeru.
Both the Guide and the Cundi Daoist sensed the heavenly secrets.
"Fuxi has been reincarnated." The guide's voice carried a hint of sorrow. "The three sovereigns of the human race will emerge, and the fate of heaven and earth will undergo a great change."
A glint flashed in Zhunti Daoist's eyes: "The Three Pure Ones will definitely go to Nuwa Palace to discuss this matter. Senior Brother, let's go too."
Jieyin nodded slightly: "That is to be expected. Although the West is barren, it cannot sit idly by and watch the East enjoy all the good fortune. If we can get a share, it will greatly benefit the prosperity of our Western religion."
Zhunti said, "Senior brother is absolutely right. Let's get up now, lest the Three Pure Ones beat us to it."
The two exchanged a glance, then activated their magical power, transforming into two golden beams that headed straight for Nuwa's Palace deep within the chaos.
The main idea is to try your luck, whether you're lucky or not, just in case you win!
---
In the midst of chaos, there is the Nuwa Palace.
Not long after Lu Ya left, Nuwa sensed several powerful auras approaching.
She frowned slightly, and after a quick calculation, she already knew what he meant.
"They arrived quickly," Nuwa said in a low voice, her expression calm.
She rose, stepped out of the Nuwa Palace, stood before the palace gate, and gazed into the depths of chaos.
Before long, three figures emerged from the chaos; they were none other than the Three Pure Ones.
Laozi rode a blue ox, Yuanshi Tianzun rode a nine-dragon sandalwood chariot, and Tongtian Jiaozhu rode a Kui ox. The three saints arrived together, creating a magnificent spectacle.
"My three senior brothers have come from afar. May I ask what brings you here?" Nuwa asked with a smile, but her tone carried a hint of scrutiny.
Laozi smiled slightly, cupped his hands, and said, "Junior Sister, we already know about the reincarnation of Fuxi. The Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors are about to emerge, and the human race's fortune will greatly flourish. We have come here firstly to congratulate you, Junior Sister, and secondly to discuss the matter of assisting the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors."
Nuwa said, "You three senior brothers are very kind. Please come inside and discuss this further."
The Three Pure Ones nodded and followed Nuwa into the Nuwa Palace.
Just then, two more golden lights flew in from the chaos.
Jieyin and Zhunti arrived together and landed in front of Nuwa Palace.
"You two fellow Daoists from the West have also arrived?" Nuwa turned around and said calmly.
Zhunti Daoist smiled and said, "Your Majesty, please don't be offended. The affairs of the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors are related to the destiny of the primordial world. Although the West is remote, it is still within the primordial world. We have come here firstly to offer our congratulations, and secondly to do our part."
Nuwa glanced at him, then at Jieyin, already understanding their intentions. She didn't elaborate, simply saying, "Since you're here, let's go inside together."
Jieyin and Zhunti were overjoyed and followed the crowd into the Nuwa Palace.
In the palace of Nuwa, the six sages gathered together.
Nuwa sat regally on her cloud bed, with the Three Pure Ones on her left and the two Western Saints on her right. The atmosphere in the hall was subtle, with each person harboring their own thoughts.
Laozi spoke first, explaining their distribution plan. He concluded by adding, "This matter concerns the fate of humanity; we dare not act on our own initiative, and have come to consult our junior sister."
Nuwa listened calmly, her expression revealing neither joy nor anger.
She paused for a moment, then slowly said, "Since the three senior brothers have already agreed, I have no objections. However, there is one thing I need to explain to you all."
Yuanshi Tianzun said, "Junior Sister, please speak."
Nuwa said, "The achievements of the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors are certainly important, but the affairs of the human race must ultimately be handled by the human race itself. I have nothing to say about my senior brothers sending their disciples to assist them. But if anyone tries to take advantage of this opportunity to control the human race, don't blame me for being ruthless."
These words, though spoken lightly, were as firm as iron.
The Three Pure Ones and the Two Western Saints all showed slight changes in expression, but quickly returned to normal.
Laozi said, "Junior sister, rest assured, we only seek to spread the Dao, not to control it."
Nuwa nodded: "In that case, the matter is settled."
The two Western Saints exchanged a glance, and Zhunti couldn't help but speak up: "Your Majesty, regarding the matter of being assisted by the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors, I wonder if the West is capable of doing so...?"
"Fellow Daoist Zhunti," Yuanshi interrupted him, his gaze slightly cold, "If the Western Sect wants to spread its teachings, it can go to the West. There's no need for you two to worry about the affairs of the East."
Zhunti's face stiffened, and he retorted, "What are you saying, Senior Brother? The primordial world is a unified whole. How can there be talk of East and West? We are also sages of the primordial world, and we also want to do our part for the human race."
"Hmph!" The Tongtian Sect Leader didn't speak, but simply revealed the Four Immortal Swords. The four immortal swords hung behind him, their sword aura chilling, their sharpness pointing directly at the two Western Saints.
Seeing this, the Daoist Guide quickly smoothed things over, saying with a smile, "Brother Daoist, please don't get angry. There's no need to fight over such a trivial matter. We were just trying to do our part."
He paused, then said cautiously, "How about this—we won't ask for much, just grant me the position of tutor to assist the emperor, how about that? Consider it a favor we owe you."
Upon hearing this, the atmosphere in the hall momentarily froze.
The three Pure Ones exchanged a glance and pondered for a moment.
Laozi remained calm, as if it were none of his business. Yuanshi Tianzun frowned, clearly unwilling to divulge anything. Tongtian Jiaozhu sheathed his Zhuxian Sword, gave a cold snort, and remained noncommittal.
Nuwa sat upright on her cloud bed, her gaze sweeping over everyone, a slight smile playing on her lips.
A brief silence fell over the hall.
