"Ah..." A low sigh slipped past Ethan’s lips as the world around him seemed to shift in color.
His muscles tingled, flooded by a dense wave of power, as if every fiber of his body were being rewritten from within. A subtle warmth bloomed beneath his skin, sinking deep into his bones.
His aura reserves overflowed in the blink of an eye, multiplying until they doubled in size. At the same time, his perception expanded, stretching far beyond the limits of his own body.
’So this is what a Rank S talent feels like?’ Ethan muttered, opening his status screen with a simple thought.

He was only at level eighty, and yet his attributes already rivaled those of a Rank B talent at level one hundred and twenty.
Counting only his current level and everything he’d stolen from enemies in the form of stats, his base attributes were on par with a Rank SS talent at the same level.
Even back in the realm of the burning ice, if he were still part of his family, he’d be considered the absolute elite of an entire generation.
Not even his older brother could stay that far ahead of him.
A gentle smile played on Ethan’s lips as he relaxed his shoulders and turned his gaze to the other rewards awaiting him.
[Skill: Golden Lord Ring Skill Theft.
Description: A skill that allows the user to steal up to one skill from a recently defeated Golden Lord.
Rank: S]
Without wasting a second, Ethan pulled the skill from the system inventory, a broad smile already forming on his face.
A wave of information flooded his mind almost instantly, depositing everything he needed to know to use it.
No sooner had the instructions finished settling in his head than a new system notification flashed before his eyes.
[You have recently defeated a Golden Lord; choose a skill from the Golden Lord’s ring to steal!]
Immediately afterward, the list of every skill contained in Alistair’s Golden Ring opened before him.
There were eight in total: seven geared toward direct military conflict, and one dedicated to troop management.
’Damn... did that bastard really have a skill this OP?’ Ethan’s eyes gleamed with greed as he scanned its description.
[Skill: Military Talent Conversion.
Description: A skill that allows the user to directly convert gold, items, and artifacts into talent levels that can be distributed throughout the army.
Rank: SSS]
Ethan read the description once, twice, three times, barely believing what he was seeing.
Finally, he bent down, scooped up an old helmet lying in the dirt, and activated the skill in the same motion.
The helmet immediately shattered into thousands of tiny shards of light.
[You have successfully absorbed: 1x inferior steel helmet (Rank C)
Calculating...
1x Rank D Talent generated! Choose a member of your settlement’s military forces with a Rank E Talent or lower to receive it.
5x Rank D Talents can be fused to form a Rank C Talent.]
Ethan’s heart nearly leapt out of his chest as he smiled like an idiot, barely able to believe what he’d just read.
Now that he thought about it, Alistair’s forces had a pretty high number of third-stage warriors.
Far fewer than Goldenveil’s, of course, but Goldenveil had a divine city core, and with it, a simply absurd density of mana and aura coursing through its streets.
Whitefall simply couldn’t compare.
With an excited sigh, Ethan took a quick look at the new item he’d received: an advanced item enhancement stone.
He himself hadn’t used many of these, but during Goldenveil’s few campaigns, the guard had already accumulated over fourteen hundred crystals, all distributed among its members.
Although they have many, however, all of them were Intermediate Rank at most, and this was the first time he’d gotten his hands on an Advanced one.
Shaking his head, Ethan simply slipped it back into his spatial ring without using it.
He planned to use it to upgrade the Blood Emperor’s ring to the highest level he could, but before that, he needed to organize his army.
Looking up, Ethan saw the many guards around him eyeing their own loot with shining eyes, an excited murmur of conversation spreading among them.
Everyone who had taken part in that battle received generous rewards, especially Alice and Veronica, who each earned an S-Rank magical cloak.
Mireya got an A-Rank defensive artifact in the form of a delicate pendant, while Evelyn received a new flaming combat technique that fit her axe perfectly.
Their gains had been nothing short of wonderful.
Sadly, the excitement among Goldenveil’s soldiers did not last long.
Gradually, the corpses of Whitefall’s soldiers were gathered into piles to be burned, while the bodies of Goldenveil’s warriors were carefully set aside, each treated with the respect due to the fallen.
