Chapter 111 A Battle of Celestial Powers: Guanyin Bodhisattva and Zhenwu the Great Arrive Together
Chapter 111 A Battle of Celestial Powers: Guanyin Bodhisattva and Zhenwu the Great Arrive Together
The great battle between the Long-Armed Ape and Sun Wukong attracted the attention of all the gods and Buddhas.
These two divine monkeys possess extraordinary abilities and should not be underestimated.
Without the intervention of a powerful being, there are very few creatures in the world capable of contending with these two monkeys.
Venus, of course, knew that the matter was of great importance.
After witnessing the Buddha's swastika seal, he immediately reported it to the Jade Emperor.
The Jade Emperor said, "Although the Long-Armed Ape is a disciple abandoned by Maitreya, he is still incredibly powerful; Sun Wukong's mission to protect Tang Sanzang on his pilgrimage is ordained by Heaven. If the two monkeys fight, it may jeopardize the important matter of the pilgrimage."
He then issued an imperial edict, ordering Li Jing, the Pagoda-Bearing Heavenly King, and Prince Nezha to lead their respective heavenly troops to descend to the mortal realm to resolve the conflict.
Upon receiving the decree, Li Tianwang immediately mobilized his heavenly soldiers, carrying the pagoda, accompanied by the Third Prince Nezha, and riding on his Wind-Fire Wheels, descending in a grand procession to the mortal realm.
Suddenly, auspicious clouds and thousands of wisps of auspicious energy appeared, obscuring half of the mountain ridge.
Li Tianwang shouted, "You two Great Sages, stop! The Jade Emperor has decreed that you must cease fighting!"
Upon hearing that the Heavenly Army had arrived, Wukong sheathed his staff, jumped out of the circle, and shouted, "Li Tianwang! What are you doing here? This wicked beast is blocking my way and trying to bully me! Don't interfere! Besides, I am the Great Sage Equal to Heaven, appointed by the Heavenly Court. What title does this beast have? How dare he be called the Great Sage?"
The gibbon also put away its bronze cudgel, glaring angrily: "What business is it of your Heavenly Court if I'm competing with Sun Wukong?"
Li Tianwang descended from the clouds and said sternly, "Long-Armed Ape, listen up! Sun Wukong is protecting Tang Sanzang, a monk on his journey to the West to retrieve the scriptures. This is in accordance with the will of Heaven and the hearts of the people. You have blocked my path and started a fight without cause, which is against the will of Heaven. What kind of logic is this? Besides, you have already been expelled by Maitreya Buddha and have no sect or faction. If you continue to be so stubborn, don't blame the Heavenly Court for being ruthless!"
Upon hearing this, the gibbon sneered inwardly.
The gods and Buddhas described this matter in such a grand and solemn way, and it was also recorded in various classic texts as the ultimate truth of heaven and earth.
But in reality, how could the transmission of Mahayana Buddhism to the East be so selfless?
Not to mention other minor gods and immortals, even the highest levels of the Lingshan lineage are engaged in open and covert struggles over this matter.
Not to mention, in order to accomplish this, Sun Wukong also needs to be given a perfect ending.
This further fueled the discontent of creatures like the gibbon, who diligently cultivate their inner nature and practice asceticism.
However, the gibbon also knew that these reasons were not legitimate.
He simply shouted, "It's not that I'm blocking your way, but this Monkey King once wreaked havoc in the Heavenly Palace, calling himself the Great Sage Equal to Heaven, yet now he serves as a servant to a mortal monk, disgracing my divine monkey clan! I only want to spar with him; I have no intention of harming my master!"
Upon hearing this, Wukong stepped forward again: "What nonsense! I, Old Sun, am protecting my master on his journey to the West, which is the path to enlightenment. How dare you presume to criticize me!"
""
Nezha stepped forward to stop him, saying, "Great Sage, please calm down. The Jade Emperor has decreed this, and the Dharma Protectors of Mount Ling are also present. It would be better to stop here. If we truly damage the harmony, it would be undesirable."
At this moment, above the clouds, the Dragon Subduer and the Tiger Tamer appeared, clasping their hands together: "Excellent, excellent. The two monkey gods are equally powerful, why bother fighting? Tang Sanzang's journey to the West is a great achievement for all time. We hope that the Great Immortal Tongbi will show mercy and let him continue his journey westward."
The gibbon looked at the gods of Heaven, then at the Buddhist Arhats, and snorted coldly.
"Even if I want to stop you today, what can you do about it?"
Having said that, the gibbon raised its bronze staff, its strange eyes wide open, and leaped forward to pounce again.
Li Tianwang felt bitter when he saw that the man refused to obey.
It had been less than two years since he last led heavenly soldiers and generals to capture Sun Wukong.
The scene is still vivid in my mind.
Sun Wukong fought against many enemies single-handedly, displaying great power and awe, causing 100,000 heavenly soldiers and generals to flee in defeat.
Now we have to deal with a gibbon?
Li Jing felt slightly more at ease as he watched Sun Wukong fighting with the Long-Armed Ape.
Fortunately, Sun Wukong now belongs to the Heavenly Court.
With this incredibly capable monkey around, this matter isn't too difficult!
Li Jing sighed inwardly for a moment, then feigned great anger and ordered his men, "Set up the Heavenly Formation and capture him!"
Prince Nezha was a combative person by nature.
He once fought a great battle with Sun Wukong, but unfortunately he was defeated and Sun Wukong learned his three heads and six arms magic.
This made Nezha realize the shortcomings in his cultivation.
Over the years, he did not waste his time in Heaven, but instead traveled to various places.
After hundreds of years of arduous practice, he felt that he had achieved perfect supernatural powers.
Now, facing the Long-Armed Ape, whose abilities are no different from those of Sun Wukong, Nezha was naturally delighted.
He stepped forward at the call, wielding a fire-tipped spear and riding on wheels of fire, shouting, "You beast! How dare you defy Heaven's will! Don't blame me for being merciless!"
Seeing that the Heavenly Court was serious, Wukong drew his golden cudgel and roared, "You reckless and ignorant demon! Heavenly soldiers are here today, and you still dare to act so arrogantly!"
In an instant, the clouds churned, and the mountains shook.
On one side, the banners of the Pagoda-Bearing Heavenly King shone brightly, while the spear of the Third Prince Nezha moved like the wind.
On one side was the Long-Armed Ape, whose staff was as imposing as a mountain, exuding a fierce aura, seemingly capable of standing alone against the Heavenly Court.
The two Arhats, Subduing Dragon and Taming Tiger, were hiding in the clouds, watching the great battle with great fear in their hearts.
The eastward transmission of Mahayana Buddhism was a great act of merit that benefited the people.
But by this time, the minor demons and monsters had already fled far away, and ordinary mortals were terrified.
If Jin Chanzi encountered calamities of this level along the way.
What should I do?
The battle below remains intense.
The Long-Armed Ape brandished his bronze cudgel, aiming straight for Wukong: "Sun Wukong! Today, it's either you or me who dies! Don't try to use the power of the Heavenly Court to suppress me!"
Enraged, Wukong ignored the gods' attempts to dissuade him and grabbed his staff to meet the attack: "You wretched beast! How dare you be so disrespectful! I, Old Sun, will act on behalf of Heaven and rid you of this scourge!"
The two monkeys exchanged blows with their sticks and fought once again.
This was a good fight—
It was enveloped in golden light, and its malevolent aura soared to the heavens.
One is the Primordial Qi Equaling Heaven Saint, and the other is the Long-Refined Thousand-Spirit Armed Ape.
The golden cudgel rises and falls like lightning, the bronze rod strikes like a raging wind.
The fighting raged until the sky darkened, the sun and moon lost their light, all the vegetation on the mountain turned to ash, and the swirling clouds and mist caused even ghosts and gods to grieve.
Seeing that he could not stop them, Li Tianwang had no choice but to raise his pagoda high, and layers of auspicious light emanated from the pagoda, trying to cover the two monkeys.
Prince Nezha also unleashed six kinds of weapons, fighting from both sides in an attempt to break them apart.
The dragon-taming and tiger-subduing deities each used their Buddhist powers, surrounded by precious light, to protect Tang Sanzang.
The gibbon, caught up in the excitement of battle, suddenly let out a strange howl, and its body burst into golden light, forcing the auspicious light of the pagoda back several steps.
He shouted angrily, "Sun Wukong! What kind of hero are you, relying on the Heavenly Court and Buddhism for support! If you have the guts, come and fight me in the heavens!"
Wukong's temperament was naturally not one to be provoked.
He laughed heartily, pointing his staff at the sky: "Go ahead, go ahead! Even if we fight all the way to the Thirty-Three Heavens, I, Old Sun, am not afraid of you in the slightest!"
The gods were secretly alarmed to see the two monkeys fighting more and more fiercely, with neither able to gain the upper hand!
Such supernatural power is truly a rare opponent in the world!
If we allow those two monkeys to continue fighting like this, the eastward transmission of Mahayana Buddhism may fail!
Western sacred mountain, Thunder Sound Temple.
With his eyes closed, the Buddha surveyed the Three Realms, watching Sun Wukong fight with the Long-Armed Ape.
After a long while, he opened his eyes.
Guanyin Bodhisattva of the South Sea immediately came forward and said, "Buddha, relying solely on the power of Sun Wukong and Jin Chanzi, I'm afraid it will be difficult to overcome this calamity. Let this disciple go and try to resolve it."
The Buddha was overjoyed: "No one else can go; only the Venerable Guanyin, with her great supernatural powers, can resolve this matter."
Guanyin rode on auspicious clouds and flew towards the battlefield where Sun Wukong and the Long-Armed Ape were fighting.
As a person of great supernatural powers, Guanyin's strength is naturally superior to that of Sun Wukong and the Long-Armed Ape.
Resolving the battle between the two monkeys is quite simple.
Guanyin would certainly not kill the gibbon directly.
After all, extraordinary beings like the Long-Armed Ape are extremely rare in the world.
By a twist of fate, Sun Wukong and the Long-Armed Ape even had the opportunity to become great supernatural beings.
While the Western Paradise may appear to be a unified entity, in reality, the various Buddhas are engaged in intrigue and power struggles, with undercurrents surging within them.
The most powerful forces are naturally the ancient Buddha Dipankara, the present Buddha Tathagata, and the future Buddha Maitreya.
These three Buddhas govern the past, present, and future of the world, and are among the most accomplished in Buddhism in terms of both spiritual cultivation and status.
However, in order to ensure the continuation of the Buddhist tradition, all major Buddhist factions need outstanding disciples.
Huang Mei, a disciple of Maitreya Buddha, was the most outstanding.
Not only did he attain the status of a transcendent being long ago, but his understanding of Buddhism surpassed that of most Bodhisattvas, and even some Buddhas could not compare to him.
Therefore, the Maitreya Buddha lineage enjoys an excellent reputation on Mount Ling.
Unfortunately, neither Dipankara Buddha nor Tathagata Buddha had a disciple as intelligent as Huangmei.
Only Jin Chanzi, a disciple of the Buddha, was intelligent, but also restless and impatient.
The Buddha had no choice but to banish him to the mortal realm, and then allowed him to take charge of the eastward transmission of Mahayana Buddhism at a suitable opportunity.
They used almost ordinary methods to ensure that Jin Chanzi's future surpassed Huang Mei's.
Besides Jin Chanzi, Buddha also took a liking to Sun Wukong.
Sun Wukong was a stone monkey born of heaven, and he was truly powerful.
After subduing Sun Wukong, the Buddha even underwent a Nirvana.
To completely sever the cause and effect.
Sun Wukong's strength is evident.
If the eastward transmission of Mahayana Buddhism truly succeeds.
Jin Chanzi returned to the Buddha's command, and Sun Wukong also joined the Buddhist sect.
Therefore, the Buddhist lineage will immediately surpass the Future Buddha and become the unshakeable number one power in Buddhism.
Guanyin Bodhisattva was pleased to see this happen.
Although Guanyin Bodhisattva has attained the status of a Bodhisattva, the great vows she made are truly immense.
Once her great vow is fulfilled, Guanyin Bodhisattva will immediately become the most supreme Buddha.
Beyond their attainment of the highest rank, their cultivation level was even more terrifying.
Not only had he already become a great master, but he had also almost broken through the limitations of his current level.
If it weren't for Guanyin Bodhisattva making a great vow to forcibly suppress her own attainment and solidify her position at the Bodhisattva level, she would not have achieved such a result.
In Buddhism, this is called "reversing the course of the journey to the Pure Land".
Of all the Buddhas of the three worlds and Bodhisattvas of the ten directions in the Western Paradise, only Guanyin Bodhisattva can achieve this level.
Therefore, no matter which Buddha is in power in the West in the future, Guanyin Bodhisattva will occupy an extremely transcendent position.
No living being can shake it.
Of course, Guanyin Bodhisattva also needs believers and naturally wants to gain many outstanding disciples.
Since Sun Wukong has already been chosen by the Buddha, then this Long-Armed Ape—
Guanyin Bodhisattva opened her palms, and within them lay two hoops.
Back then, the Buddha once gifted Guanyin with three hoops: the Golden Hoop, the Tightening Hoop, and the Restraining Hoop.
The golden headband was already on Sun Wukong's head.
The remaining golden headband and binding band can be used to subdue powerful demons.
If we can bring the Long-Armed Ape under our control today, the power of Guanyin Bodhisattva's lineage will naturally increase.
Absolutely stable.
With that thought in mind, Guanyin Bodhisattva no longer hesitated and rode the auspicious cloud towards the heavens.
The Heavenly Court, the Lingxiao Palace.
The Jade Emperor was traveling through the Three Realms, observing the battle between Sun Wukong and the Long-Armed Ape.
These two monkeys are both exceptionally powerful. Throughout the Heavenly Court, few gods can match their strength.
Only a few deities, such as Erlang Shen, can truly rival two monkeys.
Moreover, Erlang Shen was his own nephew.
They are connected by blood, and are the most direct descendants of the direct line.
The Jade Emperor ordered Erlang Shen to leave the central government of Heaven and build a temple for him at the mouth of the Guanjiang River in the mortal realm, where he could enjoy the offerings of incense alone.
The goal was to help this nephew break through to the realm of transcendence and become a true master of supernatural powers.
May you be spared from countless calamities in the future; even if heaven and earth perish, the Jade Emperor will rebuild the Three Realms.
Erlang Shen could also serve as the Jade Emperor's direct subordinate, expanding his territory.
The Jade Emperor's attitude towards Sun Wukong was the same.
Although this monkey has no bloodline of its own, it is, after all, a stone born of nature.
Since they were born and raised by the earth, they are naturally subjects of the Jade Emperor.
Although he is now involved in the eastward transmission of Mahayana Buddhism, which seems to indicate that he has entered the Buddhist order.
In reality, given the monkey's nature, it would be absolutely unable to withstand the various restrictions imposed by Buddhism.
Naturally, they must return to the Heavenly Court.
Therefore, the Jade Emperor smiled and had no worries whatsoever.
Until a certain moment, something unusual suddenly flashed in his consciousness.
That's the aura of Guanyin Bodhisattva of the South China Sea!
It seems that this transcendent Bodhisattva is going to resolve this conflict.
wrong!
The Jade Emperor frowned, realizing that things were not so simple.
His cultivation level is even higher than that of Guanyin Bodhisattva, and as the ruler of the Three Realms, he can naturally detect more unusual auras.
That Bodhisattva, with extraordinary power, not only sought to resolve the conflict, but also wanted to subdue the Long-Armed Ape.
That won't work!
Such extraordinary beings must never join the Buddhist order.
Thinking of this, the Jade Emperor pointed his finger, and a decree radiating boundless golden light rushed straight to the north.
Wudang Mountain is the sacred site of Zhenwu the Great.
Zhenwu the Great is one of the most revered deities in Taoism, with the title Zhenwu Lingying Yousheng Zhenjun, and is respectfully known in the mortal world as Jiutian Dangmo Tianzun.
He was a true master of supernatural powers, renowned throughout the north, holding the position of Zhenwu, and eliminating all demons and monsters under heaven.
He has five hundred spirit officials under his command, as well as two powerful generals, the Turtle and the Snake, and five divine dragons.
Now, I enjoy the tranquility of Wudang Mountain and the peaceful Taihe Hall.
Today, the five hundred spirit officials saw a great golden light shining in the sky and knew that it was the Jade Emperor who had sent a decree to come here. They immediately bowed and knelt down in worship.
The imperial edict passed through the First Heavenly Gate, the Second Heavenly Gate, and the Third Heavenly Gate, finally reaching the Taihe Palace.
The True Martial Emperor burned incense and bathed before receiving the imperial edict.
With a thought, the contents of the imperial edict became clear to him.
"So that's how it is. The Jade Emperor ordered me to stop Guanyin Bodhisattva and then bring that gibbon under the Heavenly Court's command."
The True Martial Emperor arranged for the Turtle and Snake Generals and the Five Great Divine Dragons to guard the Hall of Supreme Harmony.
He also ordered five hundred spirit officials to pay close attention to the movements of the demons and monsters, and not to make any mistakes.
Then he rode on auspicious clouds and headed straight for the heavens!
Both Zhenwu the Great and Guanyin Bodhisattva are beings of great supernatural powers, and their methods of riding the clouds and mist are naturally extraordinary.
In the blink of an eye, the two arrived at the place where Sun Wukong and the Long-Armed Ape were fighting.
